Audio Rewind: News & Coverage of the South Carolina Primary

This audio file recaps the last few days of media coverage- leading up to, on the day of, and in the aftermath of the South Carolina primary. I like to include surrogates speaking to the media on behalf of the Paul campaign, various clips illustrating the kind of grassroots efforts taking place on the ground, news packages by local affiliates and national networks, and even some previously unposted audio with Dr. Paul, himself. The media rarely covers Dr. Paul even when he does well at the ballot box- they had even less to say on Saturday night. By the numbers, the Congressman received around 77k votes from SC voters- a huge increase over four years ago in a somewhat hostile state. Unfortunately, the disappointing showing was enhanced by the fact that the candidates certain to finish behind him dropped out prior to primary day. But most outlets recognize that our campaign will push forward for the foreseeable future, collecting delegates as we go. I want to say that regardless of the results, the activists and supporters in South Carolina should be very proud of themselves! Waking up Americans, particularly those in the deep south who have their traditional faith and patriotism manipulated by the GOP for political gain, is no simple task. Ron Paul Revolution Coverage on FNC’s Geraldo at Large (1/18/2012)

After completely ignoring our cause and our candidate from the previous weekend's coverage, Fox News' Geraldo Rivera and Geraldo at Large Producer Craig Rivera visited a Ron Paul 2012 campaign rally in Columbia, South Carolina. The two brothers talked about the strength of the campaign and Dr. Paul's message, and Craig Rivera spoke with some of the Congressman's young supporters. Audio Rewind: News & Coverage of the Iowa Caucus

With the all-important Iowa caucus in the books, the Ron Paul campaign remains a viable option in the race to determine the tea party alternative to Mitt Romney. One can't help but be slightly disappointed after finishing behind an obviously inferior candidate like former Senator Rick Santorum. The "Santorum surge" was clearly a media driven spectacle that peaked at the perfect time for an indecisive electorate. This audio file chronologically follows Tuesday's events as they happened from the perspective of a Ron Paul supporter. Campaign surrogates spoke with the media throughout the day, and C-Span coverage tracks the sentiments of the public as the evening unfolded. We all knew it was a bad sign when the Iowa GOP moved the ballot tallying process to the proverbial undisclosed location- but that fact became more troubling as word leaked out that the establishment was openly prepared to take whatever steps necessary to block Ron Paul from winning the caucus. I'm not saying anything untoward actually occurred (the final tallies seem plausible), but anomalies exist and rumors abound. I included some discussion of these concerns for your consideration. Our candidate remains very strong despite a ruthless demonization campaign, with media on the left and right concocting their own bizarre narratives. Jerry Doyle Talks with Jack Hunter, Reacts To The Outpouring Of Support After Endorsing Ron Paul

While Dr. Paul sustains near constant attack on most cable news and talk radio stations, TRN's Jerry Doyle has continued to favor the issues, and the steps needed to get the country back on track. After announcing his endorsement of Ron Paul on Tuesday, JD welcomed Jack Hunter (official campaign blogger) back on the show to talk about the campaign. Apparently, Jerry was deluged with the praise of Ron Paul supporters everywhere, and so he took some time on Wednesday to talk about it. Iowa Gov. Branstad’s Proverbial ‘Turd in the Caucus Punchbowl’

For months, tens of thousands of activists, donors, and campaign officials have worked to win the Iowa caucus' for Ron Paul. After the incredible rise and fall of the GOP hopefuls, it seems that a plurality of Iowa conservatives are opting for Ron Paul. For the past week (starting with Fox News' Chris Wallace), we have heard the talking point that a Ron Paul victory in Iowa would discredit the first in the nation caucus, itself. Keep in mind that no other candidate (perhaps ever) has ever been treated in this fashion by the press, and even by his own party. In an astonishing turn of events, Iowa's top Republican- Gov. Terry Branstad- has had the nerve to tell the media to disregard a Ron Paul victory: "Rick Santorum could win 2nd or 3rd- that would be the story" (to paraphrase)! Cable news outlets and talk radio have been describing Dr. Paul's rise in terms of a "spoiler"- as if a first place finish is utterly irrelevant. Radio host Alex Jones' expressed incredulity in response, and does a great job capturing the sentiments of many of us- who have had to work much harder than activists for a more conventional candidate. Branstad is speaking for all the GOP power brokers, and the special interests they represent. This election is about the people, and reforming a system that is morally and fiscally bankrupt. Let's hope that Iowa voters can withstand the media's attacks on the Congressman, and those who would support him. RP2012: What Say the People? (Part 1)

With such a lack of new content over the last week or so, I have created another project the includes previously unposted audio from the last few months. These files will focus on the grassroots reaction to Ron Paul and his campaign for the Republican nomination. We all know that the Congressman is rarely given a fair shake by the MSM, and many independent Americans have noticed this trend with outrage! Happy Thanksgiving! I figured that there would be a lack of Ron Paul coverage over the long holiday weekend, so I decided to post three more hours of campaign related talk radio for the cooks, dishwashers, and long distance drivers out there. This file is in addition to the Weekly Update, that will be posted on Friday or Saturday. This is a somewhat eclectic mix of media personalities put together in this audio file, for your listening pleasure. Ron Paul Weekly Update - November 13th thru November 19th

I think you'll enjoy this week's audio update- it's been a great week! The Congressman is slowly but surely being recognized as the true contender we knew he was all along. Dr. Paul's obvious lack of speaking opportunities at the CNBC debate last week made headlines in itself. This fact was compounded by the newest polling data that shows that Ron Paul is in a virtual tie in Iowa, and is in second place in New Hampshire. Congressman Paul also won straw polls in San Diego, California and Charleston, South Carolina! Most importantly, the following audio indicates that many media personalities are exposing the MSM's penchant for managing their audiences perceptions by manipulating polling data and cherry-picking campaign coverage (to suit their corporate/government masters). Furthermore, Ron Paul's principled consistency and unmatched character is beginning to garner some attention- in sharp contrast to the several GOP hopefuls who have shot to the top of the polls, only to be exposed for their own embarrassing gaffes and character flaws. Ron Paul Weekly Update - November 6th thru November 12th

The campaign continued pushing on this week, as Dr. Ron Paul participated in two Republican debates and campaigned in New Hampshire. The media continues to focus on the Congressman potentially "playing spoiler" by running a 3rd party campaign if he does not win the nomination. The most recent polls have failed to even include Dr. Paul in the poll questions, and CBS hosted a particularly disgusting debate, with Congressman Paul receiving only 89 seconds of time to speak to the national audience. Ron Paul Spartanburg GOP Debate Highlights (11/12/2011)

November 13th, 2011

In yet another disgrace of a debate forum, CBS News and The National Journal hosted a neocon-inspired Commander-in-Chief debate, in which Dr. Ron Paul was almost completely ignored (despite a strong 3rd place in the polls the early primary states). The debate was moderated by CBS' Scott Pelley, and was held at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. The Congressman was consistently cut short during his responses and was not even given the opportunity to respond to challenges from other candidates! To add insult to injury, CBS News actively promotes John Huntsman as the anti-war candidate, in contrast to the others who absurdly tried to get to the "right" of Obama on militarism and aggression! Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Headlines & Developments (Early Fall 2011)

In search of relevant audio to post on the podcast, I generally come across tons of media coverage and news packages broadcast by local network affiliates from the campaign trail. This file is a compilation of previously un-posted news and media analysis related to the campaign (from September and October 2011). 40 clips in just under 90 minutes. In case you have not had the time to follow the many straw poll victories, activist projects, and other campaign minutia over the last couple of months- here's your chance to catch up a bit. Notice how in some clips, local media is depicting the more compassionate (read: electable) side of Ron Paul- noting his intention to protect the most dependent, vulnerable citizens by cutting back on militarism rather than entitlements. Nevertheless, some reporters ignorantly assert that Dr. Paul is at the bottom of the polls- contrary to the facts! The last couple of months have been extremely frustrating, as the media legitimizes anyone/everyone except Ron Paul. But the organization is good, the support has been steady- just keep it up! Weekend in Review - Audio Coverage from the Value Voters Summit

Well, Dr. Ron Paul has done it once again- with a resounding victory at another major straw poll. This time, at a social conservative convention that the Congressman has been less likely to attend in years past. Some at the Family Research Center, who organized the 2011 Values Voters Summit, have (incorrectly) suggested that the campaign had bought and given away tickets to the events. Talk about sour grapes! The pundits never note that the other candidates could also have their enthusiastic supporters attend these events, if they had any! The Case of Anwar al-Awlaki - The National Security State or The Constitution?

Rep. Ron Paul has been back in the news, having dissented against the extrajudicial assassination of  suspected terrorist and American citizen, Anwar al-Awlaki. The Congressman would usually receive several major interviews in light of such a controversy, but the media is still in blackout phase. So they stake out his campaign events, take 30 or 60 second soundbytes, and frame his statements however they please. Most neocons promptly praise President Obama for killing another Muslim terrorist. Most corporate news networks are completely in the tank for the President, so they don't think twice about the truly frightening precedent. Noone is crying over al-Awlaki's death, although there are many questions about his purported ties to the CIA and the Pentagon that could have been exposed in a public trial. Dr. Paul warned for months about the danger of allowing the US government to set the precedent for killing 'enemy combatants' on sight! There are infinite reasons to protect due process, for even the most dangerous criminals. Many of the usual suspect are demagoguing RP's position, but his time, we may have an ally in Dr. Savage. Constitutional Money: Bill Still v. Tom Woods

In recent days, some pundits and researchers have questioned Ron Paul's understanding of Constitutional money and the legal tender laws. This debate is exemplified by an interview that Russia Today's Max Keiser conducted with author and documentary filmmaker Bill Still- who is a longtime advocate of monetary policy reform. Still opposes the gold standard, in favor of a 'nationalized' central bank, that can create debt-free currency for the people. I included Still's entire conversation on the Keiser Report (some of which is unrelated to Wood's response), which contains useful discussion about Fort Knox, state banks, and hard currency. On Wednesday, Tom Woods released a video in defense of Dr. Paul's views that the federal government may make nothing other than gold and silver legal tender, according to the laws still currently on the books (begins at 12:40).
