Sen. Rand Paul on Sean Hannity Show (5/26/2011)

May 26th, 2011

Senator Rand Paul appeared on The Sean Hannity Show on Thursday afternoon, to talk about his fight against Harry Reid and the Democrats during their attempted ram-thru of the Patriot Act re-authorization, and the Dems Medi-scare tactics. These conversations are always particularly telling: the Straussian's must pretend to be with us "old guard conservatives." Even when Hannity tries to be collegial, his condescending nature shows through. They talk about Rand's relationship with his dad, and in the next sentence, Hannity disregards him the 2012 conversation.

Senate Debate - Rand Paul v. Patriot Act

May 25th, 2011

Senator Rand Paul has worked tirelessly to protect our liberties and our constitutional form of government, taking to the Senate floor for hours on end in an attempt to slow the re-authorization of the Orwellian Patriot Act. Dr. Paul has called out Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for opting to break his promise to allow a full and open debate about extending the act, and its dangerous provisions. As a result, the Senator has taken various parliamentary procedures, and offered several amendments to slow down the leadership's process of ramming through the liberty destroying monstrosity. He did so in defiance of Senate orders; Harry Reid then personally objected to protecting gun-owners' rights and shut the attempt down. This file contains over an hour of discussion between Senator Paul and other Senators. Links to original media sources are included in the file description, included audio can be heard in the order listed below:

Ron Paul House Floor Speech (5/25/2011)

May 25th, 2011

Ron Paul took to the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, to deliver his speech, entitled: The Last Nail. Will we simply discard the republic, and a limited government constrained by the Constitution? Ron Paul has had it, and so have I! The Congressman bemoans the Congress' willingness to accept a enhanced version of the Patriot Act, and to ignore their responsibility to enforce the War Powers provisions. Where is the media? They should ALL be calling Dr. Paul right about now! Video compliments of YouTube User: CongressmanRonPaul.

RP: "The last nail is being driven into the coffin of the American Republic. Yet, Congress remains in total denial as our liberties are rapidly fading before our eyes. The process is propelled by unwarranted fear and ignorance as to the true meaning of liberty. It is driven by economic myths, fallacies and irrational good intentions. The rule of law is constantly rejected and authoritarian answers are offered as panaceas for all our problems. Runaway welfarism is used to benefit the rich at the expense of the middle class. Who would have ever thought that the current generation and Congress would stand idly by and watch such a rapid disintegration of the American Republic? Characteristic of this epic event is the casual acceptance by the people and political leaders of the unitary presidency, which is equivalent to granting dictatorial powers to the President...The saddest part of this tragedy is that all these horrible changes are being done in the name of patriotism and protecting freedom. They are justified by good intentions while believing the sacrifice of liberty is required for our safety. Nothing could be further from the truth. More sadly is the conviction that our enemies are driven to attack us for our freedoms and prosperity, and not because of our deeply flawed foreign policy that has generated justifiable grievances and has inspired the radical violence against us. Without this understanding our endless, unnamed, and undeclared wars will continue and our wonderful experience with liberty will end."

State Rep. Glen Massie Endorses Ron Paul for President (5/23/2011)

May 24th, 2011

A news conference was held at the Ron Paul for President campaign headquarters in Ankeny, Iowa to receive the first legislative endorsement of his 2012 presidential candidacy. Iowa State Representative Glen Massie (R-Des Moines) said he considered it an honor to endorse the longtime Congressman. This presser was an inspiring show of state grassroots support; serious conservatives supporting a serious candidate. Shamefully, the media barely noted the event- and we all know that if "The Donald" had held a conference of a similar nature, the media would be crowning him! TST: Stop Raising the Debt Ceiling (5/23/2011)

May 23rd, 2011

In this week's Texas Straight Talk update, Ron Paul points out the patent absurdity of the debt ceiling debate- and how those intending to take on more debt are deemed the "responsible" ones! Rand Paul Audio Update - May 15th thru 22nd

May 22nd, 2011

Despite a slow media week, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) continued to work on behalf of the individual against an all-powerful state. As the President's administration proposes taxation by-the-mile (which will come, lest we reject it), the Senator took to the Senate floor to propose a fuel tax holiday- which would surely provide a boom for an otherwise floundering economy! Dr. Paul is also one of the few in Congress who is concerned by Obama's continued flaunting of the War Powers Act. This weekend, the calendar passed the 60-day mark since US military operations began in Libya, by which time the people's elected representatives should have voted on the action. Shame on Washington, props to Rand Paul! Links to original media sources are included in the file description, included audio can be heard in the order listed below:

NPR’s The Spark: Ron Paul (5/16/2011)

May 17th, 2011

NPR has been profiling some of the Republicans who are considering a presidential run in 2012, to find out what first sparked their interest in politics. Ron Paul was featured on Monday, during Morning Edition. The Congressman’s profile for "The Spark" was entitled, “Ron Paul: Why The Young Flock To An Old Idealist.” A nice piece until the author, Robert Smith, quips: "A few at the book signing even mentioned that someday they may have to support a candidate with a better chance of winning, but not now." The cute little dig at the Congressman and his supporters would clearly make Chris Matthews proud.

Congressman Paul on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace (5/15/2011)

May 15th, 2011

Ron Paul visited with FNC's Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, to talk about the character of the IMF, the nature of our big government, and the abuse of the Constitution. Dr. Paul does us proud once again- he's on top of his game! In this interview, the Congressman exemplifies how this country is not "center-right," but hard left (unless your only issues of concern are war and abortion). Wallace justifies the limitless authority of the general welfare clause (and the Constitutionality of Social Security), to which Dr. Paul replies:

RP: "That is such an extreme liberal viewpoint that has been mis-taught in our schools for so long, and that's what we have to reverse... Just because a court in '37 went very liberal on us, and expanded the role of government- No, I think original intent is not a bad idea. I think limitation of government power, if we aren't clear on this, we're going to get into a mess! Our government is going to get very big, and we're going to have a very big deficit. And we're going to have a financial crisis, and it's this type of thinking that is leading us to the very crisis that we're facing today." (7:45)

This is what it is all about, people! If our "conservative pundits" accept the leftist view of the general welfare clause, the interstate commerce clause, and the necessary and proper clause- the republic is dead.
